The Starcatcher series is inspired by the futuristic idea of a Dyson sphere, a feat of engineering so vast that it would encapsulate an entire star gathering its energy for use by a civilization.  This idea came about when I imagined how it would look to the first humans to lay eyes on something of this magnitude, a scoop engulfing all of the light emitted by a star, a sphere floating in the vastness of space only reflecting pins of light from other stellar bodies.  The concept of a feat so out of reach that we who are alive today will never see it come to reality, but in the distant future will it be as common as the nuclear power plant, will school children be taught the science of the sphere, as we are all limited by one human lifespan imagination will have to suffice.
