Infinite Type is an automated typing machine designed to create a visual representation of digital information.

Infinite Type combines found objects, IOT computing, and digital information to make ink on paper works.  As data becomes the currency of our collective future, we are more than ever curious where data is being gathered, stored and processed.  The data stream for this piece is taken from the S.E.T.I. (Search for Extra Terrestrial Intelligence) project, a vast array of radio telescopes searching the skies for signs of civilization. As humankind turned radio telescopes to the skies, we discovered a cosmic microwave in the background: the echo of the big bang.

Infinite Type takes this data stream of the echo of creation and turns the radio wave frequency into a hexadecimal code.  The machine uses actuators to type the information onto a loop of paper, ever darkening it with information, until only pinholes of white remain.  These ink on paper works are reminiscent of space an inky darkness with small pins of light to let the imagination wonder what lies beyond.
